 Dog Training Horsham

Well-behaved dog in 8 weeks or your money back

Reggie and I water website .jpeg

If your dog's behaviour is making everyday life stressful, we’re here to help. At Loose Lead Club, we offer private, structured dog training across Horsham and the surrounding areas. Whether your dog is pulling on the lead, barking at strangers, or ignoring your calls, we’ll help you turn things around.

We work with both dog and owner, so you feel confident in every situation. Our approach is practical, balanced and based on real-world experience. Results often begin to show within days of starting, and you’ll see clear progress week by week.

Practical Dog Training that Works

Most owners come to us after trying everything else. Our job is to show you what works and give you the skills to keep it going long after the programme ends.

We're good at working with:

Our sessions are delivered where it matters most– in your home and out on your walks. We don’t do group halls or generic training parks. You’ll get support that’s specific to your dog, your environment, and your goals.

As qualified trainers and behaviourists, we focus on long-term behaviour change rather than short-term tricks. And unlike one-size-fits-all methods, our training is shaped around how your dog responds and what you need day to day.

Programmes designed for lasting change

Our 8-week programme includes private in-person sessions, live Zoom calls, and daily support through WhatsApp. Every week builds on the last, so you can feel your progress and know exactly what to do next.

We also offer The Accelerator, where our team trains your dog for you every day. This is ideal if you’re time-poor or dealing with more serious issues. It’s intense, fast-moving, and focused on long-term change.

For owners outside the area or those who prefer remote options, our online programme includes follow-along videos, group Zooms, and personal guidance throughout. It’s designed to give you the same outcomes, just at your own pace.

Our dog Ares (male German shepherd) was around one and half years old. This was not our first German shepherd or dog, but we never expected Ares to be how he was. He was so reactive to everything - dogs, people, pushchairs, bikes, even the wind he would bark at if there was nothing else to get bark at. He pulled so much, and lunged. We couldn’t take him off lead because we didn’t trust he wouldn’t run after something or someone. We would dread taking him for a walk, and sometimes I cried because of how stressful it was. I was constantly on alert, avoiding everything to the point I would walk him early hours of the morning (5am) and late at night to reduce my own anxiety and stress. We tried so many different techniques (like they suggest online), and tools (different collars, longline, different leads, harnesses, halti, the list goes on) to stop the behaviour and the pulling. We even had two previous dog trainers with no little to no change. Working with Jake and Paul at the Loose Lead Club was truly life changing for us as a family, and for Ares. Jake and Paul were so supportive, knowledgeable, understanding; and nonjudgmental. My partner and I both work long hours, 5 days a week and they were accommodating with fitting the training into our family and work life. We also were able to continue the training with Ares between the sessions, which made a noticeable difference and worked around our life. We sent daily updates and would get feedback, again super helpful! The programme was truly worth every penny, and I wish I found Loose Lead Club sooner! We are now able to walk past people, runners, pushchairs, bikes, and dogs. We have no lead pulling and Ares is off lead! We now look forward to going out for a walk, and going to different places! We never dreamed this would be us! I could now cry with happy tears. We get compliments on how well behaved and trained he is (we never thought this would happen either) I would 1000% recommend the Loose Lead Club to any dog owners struggling with reactive, lead pulling, or any form of behaviour. I would also recommend the Loose Lead Club to anyone wanting to understand what a healthy balanced dog needs and looks like. We never realised how much sleep, routine and structure our dog needed, and he is thriving! Thank you so much Loose Lead Club, and I truly appreciate that despite the programme ending, we can continue asking for advice! Nicole, Sean and Ares Picture added of Ares (at the back) with Jake’s dog to evidence the massive achievement 🤩

Highly recommend! We sought Paul's help when our Doberman suddenly became reactive toward other dogs while on a lead. This is the third trainer I've worked with, and I wish I had found them first. The program is structured with practical one-on-one sessions, paired with group calls to reinforce and explain the reasoning behind certain instructions. I found this really helpful, as we were not only training our dog but also training ourselves to be better handlers, setting our dog up for success. With Beth's help, we resolved his reactivity within a couple of weeks, then further fixed his loose-lead walking, his ability to relax at home (a challenge for him!), and his duration and obedience in high-distraction environments.

Zeke was a crazy puppy. Lovely, but a bit hyper to the point of annoying and made me a bit nervous about how he would get on with others. After all the training it's really astonishing how much more I can see Zeke being cool with working with me rather than me just working for Zeke. Went from barking until he gets what he wants to being good until rewarded. Still has his moments but the foundation to work on is solid. Very glad I did this

Paul and Loose Lead Club are the reason why I am now able to take my 18 month old Jack Russel mix on the most enjoyable, relaxed happy walks - both on-leash and off! Snoopy was dog reactive from the start -he lived simply to play/interact with other dogs which meant that I couldn't let him off lead ever because when another dog was in the picture (either nearby or even in the distance) his recall and manners were non existent, he would rush dogs (with all the consequences that comes from that) and I would spend my time running after him profusely apologising trying to catch him to remove him from the situation... when he was on-lead he would bark, howl and yelp at full volume if he wasn't allowed to 'meet' any dog that we passed etc. We were unable to take him to any indoor venue (restaurants, shops etc) in case there was another dog and so on and so forth. I tried to 'fix' the issues myself but was really getting nowhere and I realised I needed professional help. One day I saw a Loose Lead Club van drive past and decided to contact them - a decision that has without doubt been the best thing I have done for Snoopy and for myself. The programme requires you to engage with your dog in a manner that is guaranteed to be beneficial to your dog which, in turn, benefits the owner. Paul's calm, 'nothing is really a problem', positive demeanour quickly rubbed off on Snoopy and me - anytime I had a wobble or wasn't sure I was doing things the right way I would send him a WhatsApp and he would reply to get me back on track. The feedback from the other members of the group also helped provide comfort and encouragement knowing that others were going through similar issues etc. Today, Snoopys' walks are 90% off-lead - in all of Londons major parks - because of the freedom he knows he has on these walks he will more often than not, ignore other off lead dogs - he might go and say hello but as soon as I call his name he comes running. He is allowed to play with dogs now so it doesn't have the same attraction as before and he can chase squirrels to his hearts content! This more relaxed attitude to other dogs has taken over all aspects of his life - on lead we can pass other dogs without any nonsense and the howling/yelping has stopped all-together. Our walks are now an actual pleasure - both for Snoopy and for myself.

We approached the Loose Lead Club for help with Stella - our 7-year old Irish Terrier, who had become aggressive towards some other dogs. The fact that her aggression was selective meant it was particularly challenging as we were never sure when she would kick off. This behaviour meant we were increasingly anxious walking her off lead and it significantly reduced our enjoyment of her long, daily walks in Richmond Park. Paul quickly identified the problem and really helped us recognise and change certain behaviours which significantly reduced her aggression. The aggression really came from Stella's nervousness around other dogs and not knowing how to walk away from dogs she wasn't keen on. Attack was her form of defence. With Paul's help, we are better able to spot any trouble brewing and give Stella a quick exit route and reassurance that we were there to protect her. Stella is regularly walked by three different people and we have all noticed a really big improvement in her behaviour. I can't claim that it is perfect, but it is so much better than it was previously and makes walking her a joy again. An added benefit to the whole process is that Stella's recall has also massively improved and is, dare I say it, almost perfect now. That was certainly not the case before if her prey drive kicked in. This is incredibly reassuring and we get complimented a lot for it. The programme with the Loose Lead Club was easy to arrange and the one-to-one sessions in various locations to try out different environmental scenarios worked really well. They set clear weekly goals and exercises which are very helpful. Paul genuinely cared about Stella and making all of our lives easier. I would have no hesitation recommending the Loose Lead Club to others who are experiencing quite serious behavioural issues with dogs. It's not so much about basic dog training - but when you are looking for significant changes to existing poor behaviours, it's spot on and, for us, very much worth the money.
